A Direct Hit to the Jaw!

The truth about Bisphosponates

1. Bisphosphonates are very dangerous medications you should not be taking at all. You must stop immediately.
2. Many years ago when patients were treated for Bone Cancer –some with Bisphosphonates– it was found that these meds produced a high bone density, so some modified versions were created to treat Osteoporosis or Osteopenia.
Later on it was discovered that these meds produce bone density through Necrosis (death of the bone) so patients still suffered severe fractures on hips etc.

EVEN WORSE: Patients who take Fosamax or any equivalent medication cannot have Dental Treatment at all because one of the side effects is the high risk of suffering from a OsteoNecrosis of the Jaw after an extraction or the placement of an implant.

WE CANNOT TREAT YOU IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY IN TREATMENT WITH FOSAMAX OR BONIVA OR ANY MEDICATION WITH BISPHOSPHONATES.

You are poisoning yourself and it will NOT help your body in the long term, as a matter of fact it can make your conditions worse.

3. Do your research, call your Doctor, ask for other options that are safer and more natural. If he/she does not give you options

WE CAN GIVE YOU THIS INFORMATION!!!

Side Effects of these meds are terrible and you should have been warned PLEASE RESEARCH OPTIONS!

FOR DENTAL TREATMENT YOU MUST GET RID OF BISPHOSPHONATES FROM YOUR BODY. This takes time.

Depending on the levels of bisphosphonates in your blood we can determine how long we must wait until you are ok for dental treatment.
How can we determine toxicity levels?? There is a blood test called CTx.

Please consult with your physician so you can get it and send us the results.

The results will set up a guideline of what can be done or not.

You can get it at QUEST LABORATORIES in San Juan Capistrano, California.
The result has to be higher than 150pg/mL for low risk treatment.

The CTx Test is short for: serum C-terminal telopeptide test. It is a medical blood test that is used to assess the risk of oral
bisphosphonate-induced osteonecrosis of the jaws and to guide treatment decisions.

According to Marx (J Oral Maxillofac Surg. 2007 Dec) these are the values for risk assessment: 1- CTX values less than 100 pg/mL representing high risk, 2-CTX values between 100 pg/mL and 150 pg/mL representing moderate risk, 3-CTX values above 150 pg/mL representing minimal risk.

Important notice:
The CTX values were noted to increase between 25.9 pg/mL to 26.4 pg/mL for each month not taking the medicine indicating a recovery of bone remodeling and a guideline as to when oral surgical procedures can be accomplished with the least risk.
You should also consider Hyperbaric Oxygen chamber at the time of your treatment.
